Free Medical Clinic to Open in Beaufort
The Good Neighbor Free Medical Clinic, located in downtown Beaufort, is a non-profit, faith-based company that provides primary and preventive health care at no cost to residents of Beaufort County who have limited income and cannot afford or cannot qualify for health insurance or Medicaid. Although the clinic won't begin seeing patients until April 1, it already is operating its prescription assistance program. Services at the Good Neighbor Free Medical Clinic of Beaufort will include general medicine, including family practice and internal medicine, ophthalmology and the prescription assistance program. The clinic is a member of the South Carolina Free Clinic Association and the National Association of Free Clinics. The facility hopes to open a second Good Neighbor Free Medical Clinic in Burton on the campus of the Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church in July.
