Dell Expanding to Offer Electronic Medical Record Services for AMA
Dell Inc. plans to expand its services to computer hardware and technology consulting to medical practices looking to use new electronic medical records and related services from the American Medical Association. Due to the initial high costs, the transition towards medical records has been slow, but is speeding up after the passage of the stimulus bill that allocated billions of dollars for hospitals and health care providers to adopt electronic medical records. It was when Dell bought Perot Systems Inc, a technology services company which half of its business comes from hospitals and other health care providers, that jump started Dells expansion to digital record service offerings.
