New York City College of Technology Receives New Birthing Lab
New York City College of Technology nursing students can experience a woman giving birth through the use of a simulator mother and infant who do all the things that real mothers and babies do. This simulator is part of City Tech's new birthing lab. Students can tell whether they are handling the mother too roughly, if she has an obstructed airway, if she is experiencing digestive failure, and many more symptoms. The students first experience a normal birth, to help provide a basic understanding. Then they experience the complexities of the birthing process, such as the baby in the wrong position, the umbilical cord around the baby's neck, and other complications. New York City College of Technology is the only college in the City University of New York that has this kind of fully equipped laboratory that provides this kind of training to Associate's and Bachelor's degree nursing students.
