UNC Pembroke Nursing Department Receives $75,000 from Wachovia
The Wachovia Foundation is giving $75,000 to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Department of Nursing. The Wachovia Foundation, a charitable arm of the Wachovia Corporation, believes the number one priority is education. Wachovia bankers had the opportunity to meet with nursing students, toured five clinical simulation laboratories, and talk to the computerized "patient simulators." Health care programs are very expensive - an advanced patient simulator can cost as much as $100,000. With such costs, it is important to have such wonderful support as Wachovia's. The project will help increase the nursing workforce diversity where it is currently medically underserved and increase the quality of health service in the region.
