New Nursing Degree Causing Debate
A new degree for nurses, titled doctor on nurses, is causing a debate. Some in the medical profession say only physicians should call themselves "doctor," since it implies a certain degree of training and hours in medical school. The doctoral program for nurses is offered at over 200 schools. The primary cause of the tension seems to be that doctors feel threatened by this new degree, which may prevent a doctor's job security in the future. The first exam to certify the doctor nurses was given in November, and the next test is scheduled for October.
