John A Hartford Foundation Awards $2,622,560 Grant to New York University College of Nursing
The John A Hartford Foundation has awarded a $2,622,560 grant to the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing at New York University College of Nursing. This grant will be used to teach nurses the use of geriatric health assessment tools by producing and distributing demonstration videos and a companion series of journal articles. The director of the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing states that the health assessment of older adults is very important - the illness in older people often looks different than younger ones. However, faculty or care providers outside of the specialty of geriatrics are usually not prepared. The need for this knowledge is in high demand - 63% of nurses entering the workforce are graduates of associate degree programs.
