Columbia Nursing School Sued After Failing Student
Nicholas Perrino was kicked out of Columbia University's School of Nursing after missing an exam. The 27 year old student was working towards two master degrees when his grandparents became gravely ill, forcing him to take a few days off. He talked to his instructors about not being able to be there for the skills exam and arranging a makeup. However, the school ended up failing him in the course, which was a fast-track master's program. He responded by filing academic grievances and appealing to the Columbia provost. As a result, he was withdrawn from the School of Nursing. He is now asking a judge to remove the "F" transcript and reimburse tuition costs, which were $65,000.
