Health Care Reform's Effect on NY
The health care reform bill could have quite an effect on New York if it is passed. Governor Paterson's office reports that the Senate health care bill would cost New York somewhere between $1.1 billion to $1.25 billion a year. Half of Medicaid costs would be covered. According to the Health Care Association of New York, $5.5 billion would be cut over 10 years from reimbursements to New York hospitals for treating those who cannot pay their bills.

The House bill would save the state around $4 billion a year. It would cut $2.6 billion over 10 years from reimbursements to New York hospitals for treating those who cannot pay their bills.

In addition, NYC would end up loosing funding for 100 community health clinics. As a result, these clinics would have to close.
