Cough Software Designed to Diagnose Respiratory Diseases
Thanks to new technology, software aims to diagnose cold, flu, pneumonia or other respiratory diseases. The average coughs fall into the categories of wet or dry and are around a quarter of a second in length. A cough has a specific structure, and after analyzing around 1,000 cough samples, scientists hope to be able to create an effective diagnosis. The software, which would probably be installed on cell phones as an iCough application, can run the sound when a person coughs through the computer and compare it to all the known cough profiles. A diagnosis would then be presented within a few seconds. The result: one less trip to the doctor's office!
