NY Budget Cuts Forces Hospitals to Lay Off Thousands of Health Care Workers
Over the last 17 months, four budget actions have reduced funding to hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care providers causing them to lay off thousands of health care workers. As a result, 17% of critical health services have been reduced, including cancer treatment, processes to eliminate backlogs and wait times, and much more. 18% of hospitals report layoffs and 16% have reduced employee benefits. In this world today of increasingly demanded health care, it is important to support your local health care providers by contacting your local legislators before critical services will be eliminated from your community.
