Supplement to Reduce Hair-Pulling
People suffering with trichotillomania, or chronic hair-pulling, participated in a study with an over the counter supplement call N-acetylcysteine. The study showed that over half of hair pullers got relief from their compulsion. The compulsion can cause sufferers to gain bald spots, and anxiety. The supplement also showed to have some effect for people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Fifty-six percent of patients in the study were 'much or very much improved'. None of the participants in this study reported any adverse effects.
