Reduction in Cancer Death Rate Right on Track
New statistics from the American Cancer Society report that the death rate for cancer has decreased as a result of better prevention and treatment. There was a decrease in deaths of 19.2 percent for men and 11.4 percent for women. Despite these decreases, it is important to note that there will be around 1.5 million new cancer diagnoses in the United States in 2009 and an expected 562,340 deaths. Lung, prostate, breast, and colon cancers are the top lethal cancers.
