Nurses Week : Time to Celebrate, Time to Think of The Future of Nursing
May 6-12 is Nursing Week. During this time to give thanks and honor the nurses for all that they do, it is also a time to think about the future of nursing. Talks of the nursing shortage continue to remain throughout the news. Statistics show that US nurses will be high in demand and there will be far more jobs than qualified RNs to fill those positions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the shortage nurses will continue to increase, reaching 800,000 by 2020. The popular job posting website Monster.com had a 55% increase in its nursing job postings in 2006. While many are already finding a difficult time recruiting nurses, the future is predicted to be more difficult than ever.
