UConn Expands Nursing Program
Last week the University of Connecticut board of trustees doubled the funding to expand the nursing program. They plan on adding a 175-seat case-study room and a 100-seat classroom. The addition of these rooms will allow the university to expand their enrollment. UConn officials hope the new expansion will help the school gain more students and help with the state's nursing shortage. UConn has the largest nursing program in the state and is hoping to increase the number of graduates per year. Carol Polifroni, associate dean of the nursing school, said,"we are very sensitive to the issue that nursing has a tremendous, tremendous shortage." The renovations are expected to be complete in fall of 2011.
