Nursing vacancies decline in 2006, major shortages loom
A survey reports that as of January 2007, the RN vancancy rate was down from 6.2 percent in 2005 and 6.7 percent in 2004. It is predicted that the national nursing shortage will grow at a rapid rate starting in 2010, when large numbers of baby boomer nurses reach retirement.
