Johnson & Johnson and AACN Offer New Scholarship Program for Minority Nurses
The Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing's Future has created a new national scholarship program to increase the rate of nurse faculty that come from ethnic minority backgrounds. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) currently states that only 10.5 percent of full-time nurse faculty come from underrepresented minority backgrounds. Hoping to improve this rate, the J&J-AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholars program will support full-time underrepresented minority nursing students by providing financial assistance to facilitate the completion of graduate programs and diversify the nurse faculty population. The program includes mentorship and leadership development to assure successful completion of graduate studies and preparation for a faculty role. Candidates for the scholarship must demonstrate potential for nursing education and agree to teach in a U.S. school of nursing after they graduate. To apply for this program, students can download the application at

. The application deadline is October 15, 2007.
