North Carolina Nurses Association Shares Views On Nursing Shortage
The North Carolina Nurses Association predicts that the aging Baby Boomers is part of the cause for the nursing shortage and will prevent personal care. The Baby Boomers either are starting to need care or going into retirement. WakeMed is one of the few hospitals in North Carolina that does not have a need for more nurses; however, medical errors are still a concern. The North Carolina Center for Nursing expects there will be a shortage 11,000 nurses by 2010. They predict it to increase to 20,000 by 2015.
