Shriners May Close 6 Facilities
Due to an increase in costs and a reduction in donations, Shriners hospitals are thinking about closing a quarter of their facilities. They feel that this may be their only viable option, and unless they act now, they could potentially be out of the hospital business and not have any hospitals. In cities where hospitals may close, such as in Greenville South Carolina, supporters and hospital staff are scheduling fundraisers and asking for support. Shriners hospitals have provided free care since before the Great Depression, more than 1 million children have been treated at the hospitals.
