NC Hospitals Recruiting from South Florida
Despite the nursing shortage in South Florida, recruiters from Greensboro, North Carolina visited the area to recruit nurses. Even though the Moses Cone Health System had advertised in local newspapers and on the web, no one is talking about what was going on. Many nurses who are not tied down to any commitments are able to look for the best opportunity. While nurses can receive high salaries in many places, South Florida is not one of the cheaper places to live in the South. For example, the median price for a house in Greensboro is $144,000 while the medium price for a house in Broward, South Florida is $259,000. As a result, many nurses are moving away from South Florida and relocating to North Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolinas. The Business Journal in Greensboro reported in September that there were 8,000 nurse openings in North Carolina hospitals.
