NY Hospital Puts Stroke Victim In Psych Ward
Migdalia Soto suffered a stroke while washing dishes in her Bronx apartment and checked into Lincoln Hospital. There they put her in the psych ward and tranquilized her. In the emergency room Soto claimed she was unable to form words, couldn't stand up, and couldn't feel anything on her right side. She was then diagnosed with a mental condition and put in the psych ward. Her three kids attempted to convince the hospital that her mother was not mentally ill or on drugs. The doctors kept telling them that she could still walk and talk it was just in her head. Four days after checking into the hospital a "neuro consult" was ordered, and she was given the new diagnosis of stroke.

This incident did not get reported to the state. The state Health Department says there was no "statement of deficiencies". This means they either found no wrong doing or the hospital did not report the events.
