Nurse Files Complaint on Swine Flu Threat at Hospital
Registered nurse Sherry Ramsey filed a complaint against Sutter Solano Medical Center saying the hospital "is failing to provide adequate personnel protection equipment," and that about 10 nurses have recently become ill with swine flu after treating patients with the illness. The nurses were presumed to have swine flu since exposure was likely. They were treated for it and stayed home to recover. Only one employee tested positive for swine flu, the others were only known to have a respiratory illness. The complaint cited that the hospital did not provide adequate masks to protect against airborne illness. The brand of masks provided the nurses had not been fitted for. The hospital even asked them to recycle their masks by putting them in plastic bags after use.The state is investigating the complaint and by law, must complete the investigation within six months.
