Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center Fined For Deadly Blood Transfusion
Two nurses at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center gave a patient in 2008 a blood transfusion that was unnecessary and was the wrong blood type. The transfusion lasted for 15 minutes, which then the hospital staff noticed the error. As a result, the patient ended up dying. The hospital has been fined $25,000 by the state of California. The two nurses that failed to follow blood transfusion protocol ended up resigning.
