Nurse Called Out of Surgery for Layoff
Dean West Clinic in Wisconsin planned to lay off 90 employees. One nurse who was being laid off was called out of surgery by her manager to be informed of the news. The surgery was minor and the patient was not affected; however, there was a certain amount of time that a nurse was not present during the procedure - which violates medical protocol.
