Vassar Nurses Picket for Retiree Health Benefits
200 registered nurses and other representatives picketed for retiree health benefits in front of Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. The New York State Nurses Association requested Vassar to create a trust that would fully fund health benefits for nurses upon retirement. The current hospital proposal is only including a retiree medical savings program providing .5 to 1.5 percent of their base pay rate per year in an account toward after retirement medical expenses.
